Why should I have my website designed for wireless devices?

Why my existing web is not suitable for wireless devices?

Well consider this - unlike PC or Apple computers with monitors from 14" and up wireless devices are coming with a way smaller screens in size and resolution. I did some quick research and here are my findings:

Sidekick LX	400x240 (some earlier version 320x240 and 400x208)

Your web page developed for PC or notebook computer will not fit into a wireless device screen for sure. My daughters are using Sidekick and both are Internet enabled. On several occasions I was browsing various pages and had to scroll up/down and left/right to read the pages and reach information I was looking for.

Many wireless device manufacturers and software writers are working hard to squeeze and make the web pages visible on these screens and avoid at least horizontal scrolling.

Google even has developed its search page for cell phones and below is the example - I believe no comment needed it speaks for it self enough.

Of course and as in example it is almost impossible to avoid vertical scrolling unless you cut your page content to just a few basic information.

I would say vertical scrolling is fine - most of the websites you have to scroll down even on big screens.

As you can see I did cut the content of my website to a bit more than a basic information. Also you probably noted in my home page the top paragraph reading "Click HERE for the cell phone or PDA friendly page."

I hope clear enough to point to my home page for wireless devices until I find solution to automatically detect wireless device visitor and redirect them to my wireless page. Will post an update as soon I get the results.
